For those of you who feel upset and betrayed by last night’s brutal Game of Thrones episode, there is a silver lining: Ulysse Nardin has teamed up with HBO’s Game of Thrones to create a limited edition timepiece, called the Night’s Watch, inspired by the show itself. Creating only 25 pieces of this watch, the Night’s Watch will be released this week right before the season 3 finale on June 9 for $10,500 a piece.
Ulysse Nardin’s Game of Thrones inspired watch
In the book and television series, the Night’s Watch consists of a military union who dress in large black cloaks and protect the Seven Kingdoms from the dangerous North. In addition to being named after an important military order in the Game of Thrones, the Night’s Watch also highlights many references to the series by inscribing “The Night’s Watch” and “I am the sword in the darkness” on its strap.

Channeling the mood of the Night’s Watch in the series for inspiration, Ulysse Nardin created an almost entirely black watch to represent the serious and somber mood of the sacred order. The only part of the watch that is not black is the dial, which is decorated with red hour markers that glow in contrast to its matte black covered case. The spurts of red on the dial symbolize the bloody scenes and gruesome nature of the series.
In essence, the design of the watch consists of a 45.8 mm diameter stainless steel case coated in matte black rubber with a sapphire glass case back. Completing the look of the watch, the Game of Thrones logo is engraved on the exposed sapphire glass case back.

In addition the serious nature of the Night’s Watch in the actual series inspiring the design and look of the Ulysse Nardin watch, it also influenced the function of the watch. Functioning as a rugged, marine diver watch, this timepiece can survive in the most challenging and extreme environments. Just how the Night’s Watch in the series protects the kingdoms from damage, the structure of this timepiece similarly shields the mechanics of the watch from destructive situations.
If you are a Game of Thrones fan interested in buying this watch, get ready to fight for it because only 25 pieces are being released this week!
