A First Look at Fall – Brown Dial Watches

The changing of seasons brings all kinds of shifts. Some of the most notable are physical, such as shifts in the weather. With these changes in temperature, we change things in our lives, like the clothes we wear. In addition to these physical shifts, we might also notice shifts in things like our mood. As the days become shorter, you may notice yourself favoring darker or more subdued colors.

Changing preferences with the change of seasons is part of the natural ebb and flow of our lives. It gives us a chance to enjoy new parts of our wardrobes, including our watch collections. As you find yourself reaching for your blue-dialed dive watch more infrequently, simply notice which watches you’re gravitating toward. They may very well have darker dials or warmer metals. In case you need some fall inspiration, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite brown dial watches.

OMEGA Speedmaster Broad Arrow

The iconic broad arrow hands trace back to the origins of the Speedmaster in 1957. This was the Speedmaster before the famous NASA tests and lunar landing – the Speedmaster in its purest form. Just two years later in 1959, OMEGA replaced the broad arrow hands with alpha hands. Since then, the broad arrow hands have made brief reappearances on special edition models. The first came in 1997 commemorating the Speedmaster’s 40th anniversary. Just after the turn of the century, OMEGA introduced a new Broad Arrow Speedmaster. For the first time, it featured an automatic movement. Another came just a few years ago in celebration of the models monumental 60th anniversary. Here, we see a striking example of the Speedmaster Broad Arrow with a rich brown dial.

Breitling Navitimer Rattrapante

The addition of a rattrapante variation to the classic Navitimer collection first came just a few years ago in 2017. The model marks the first time Breitling created this complication entirely in-house. In addition, the brand fitted the start-stop mechanism with a specialized isolating mechanism to help preserve energy. This unique system is only in a select few models, like the Patek Philippe Split-Seconds Chronograph. Breitling designed the oversized 45mm model in two variations: stainless steel and rose gold. Both iterations showcase a brown dial, which aligned with the faux-patina trend that was popular that year. The result gives the model the retro feel of a vintage tropical dial.

OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT

OMEGA first debuted a GMT variation of the classic Seamaster Aqua Terra back in 2012. This marked the brand’s first co-axial model to come equipped with a GMT complication. The model features a modern 43mm case and striking teaked dial. OMEGA offers the model in three colorways: an 18-karat rose gold, stainless steel, or a two-tone 18-karat rose gold and stainless steel. Here, we see the former, complete with a complimentary warm brown leather strap and dial.

Rolex Datejust

No model is quite as versatile and classic as the Rolex Datejust. Of all the brand’s offerings, the Datejust comes in the widest array of style options to suite any taste. From case metals to dial colors and strap choices, there’s a Datejust for everyone. It comes as no surprise there’s a perfect brown dial option for fall. We love this unique taupe hue contrasted by a stainless steel case. In addition, the darker brown leather strap featuring lighter brown accents in the stitching is the perfect match.

Breguet Marine Royale

Dive watches aren’t just reserved for the summer months. They can make excellent companions all year round. A great example is the Breguet Marine Royale with a deep brown dial. This contemporary, oversized timepiece measures a whopping 45mm and features an 18-karat rose gold case. Inside, you’ll find an automatic movement with an alarm mechanism, a unique choice for a dive watch. The model’s elegant construction is contrasted by a sporty rubber strap as a nod to its dive watch roots.

Rolex President

Last but certainly not least among our picks for handsome brown dial watches for fall is the legendary Rolex President. The President is typically instantly recognizable for its all-yellow gold construction. However, this incredibly unique brown-dialed variation features the brand’s Everose gold. In addition, the dial boasts a striking texture, giving the model both depth and contrast. If you’re looking for an exceptional alternative to the typical President for all, this is your watch.
