Fashion Week Watches

It’s barely fall, but the fashion community already has its sights on next year’s spring/summer wardrobe. The debut of next season’s collections kicked off at New York Fashion Week back in July with the launch of the SS18 men’s collections. It wrapped up last week with the showcase of the SS18 women’s collections. Now, the upcoming trends are out, and we’ve got just the right tips and tricks for how you can pair them with the perfect accessory: the wristwatch. Let’s take a look at some fashion week watches.

Back to Basics with White

From the basic white t-shirt to all-white suiting, SS18 collections are going back to basics with the color white. It’s hard to go wrong with such a crisp and classic look. Whether you go for an all-white ensemble or simply white accents, it’s a sleek and timeless way to stay stylish. Punctuate your white look with a watch that never goes out of style, like a Cartier Tank Americaine, and you’ll be set to show off this upcoming trend.

Square Shapes

Next year’s spring/summer collections are giving a nod to a trend of the past: square shapes. The style first became popular centuries ago and has continued to resurface over the years. Next season, expect to see details like square necklines and boxier silhouettes. Also, if you’re looking to up your wrist game to reflect the latest trend, try a watch with a square face, like Franck Muller Master Square.

Rubberized Materials

Rubber is quite possibly one of SS18’s most unique and futuristic trends. If you’re not ready to take the leap and sport a synthetic rubber blazer, rubber accessories are an easy and less intimidating place to start. Think of a rubber rain boot reimagined into a stylish rubber tennis shoe. Or, might we suggest adding a rubber strap to your watch? Consequently, it’d be the perfect way to make your Breitling Chronomat on-trend next season.

West Coast Influences

That ultra-chill, Cali vibe is  starting to sweep the nation and the fashion community. There’s a distinct movement toward a more laidback aesthetic, but don’t mistake this mellow tone for casual. The west coast influence is still high fashion. Picture boarding a sailboat in the San Francisco Bay for a weekend getaway and what you might wear for the occasion. How about an Omega Seamaster?

90’s Vibes

Retro fashion has been on the rise for several seasons now, and next spring and summer is going to be no different. Surely expect to see a distinct 90’s influence in the upcoming warm weather fashions, from colors to fabrics and silhouettes. Top off your 90’s-inspired look with the perfect accessory that gives a nod to the decade. Nomos was founded in 1990 and launched its line with a collection of four watches, one of which was the Ludwig.

Preppy Pinstripes

When it comes to patterns you can expect to see once warmer weather rolls in next year, preppy pinstripes are predicted to be in vogue. The classic pinstripe is an undoubtedly fun way to elevate your suiting game or an interesting way to add a touch of color and pattern to your collection of shorts. To complete your tailored look, you’ll need the perfect watch to match. You can never go wrong with a timeless Rolex Datejust.

Neutral and Rust Palettes

In addition to summer whites, the color palette for SS18 is staying neutral with a focus on rust hues, like burnt tangerine. Fortunately, you don’t have to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe to adopt this trend. Swap out your winter greys and blacks for browns and camels to achieve this look. If nothing else, you can always make sure your watch reflects the upcoming color trend. For instance, choose something with a leather band and brown dial, like a Vintage Omega Automatic.

Athleisure Inspirations

The athleisure trend has been seeping its way into high fashion, and it’s not going away anytime soon. From undeniably high-end sport wear to tennis shoes, you can expect to continue to see elevated athletic apparel dominating the collections next season. To keep your athleisure-inspired ensemble generally fresh and chic – accessories are key. A Panerai Luminor is the perfect watch to compliment the trend.
