NFL Quarterbacks and Their Watches

Top NFL Quarterbacks and their Watches:

He’s the leader of the offense. The success or failure of a single pass could make or break a game for his team. The quarterback has a lot riding on him each time he steps onto the field. After the helmet and pads come off, he transforms into a different man. His hair is slicked back. He has shades on as he steps into a hot sports car with limited-edition kicks. He’s a man known not only for his talent but also for his personal style. Some quarterbacks enter the watch world as ambassadors for their favorite brands. Others simply have an affinity for fine watches. For a pro athlete, a wristwatch is more than an accessory; it’s a rite of passage. Let’s look at what some of the top quarterbacks are wearing off the field.

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

For nearly two decades, quarterback Tom Brady’s name was synonymous with the New England Patriots. Then, in 2020, the six-time Super Bowl champ made a shocking announcement that he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it paid off. By 2021, he’d taken them to a Super Bowl and secured a win. In addition to establishing himself as a football legend, Brady has also established his place in the watch world. Over the years, he’s sported a number of different models, from a 50th Anniversary Edition Rolex Milgauss to an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. Brady served as a TAG Heuer ambassador for a stint. He appeared in their “Don’t Crack Under Pressure” campaign and co-designed a namesake, special edition watch: the Tom Brady Special Edition Heuer 01. Then, he signed on as a brand ambassador for IWC. He showed off one of the latest additions to his collection while signing his new NFL contract with the Bucs. The IWC Timezoner, Reference IW395501, “The Longest Flight” is a special edition model. IWC produced it in a limited run of just 250 pieces as part of the Spitfire line released in 2019.For nearly two decades, quarterback Tom Brady’s name was synonymous with the New England Patriots. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is one of the youngest and most exciting quarterbacks in the league. Having already won one Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs, he proudly headed back as one of the newest players to face the veteran Tom Brady. By the age of 25, he’d already thrown over 100 touchdowns. This makes him one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league. With one league MVP under his belt, there’s a very bright future for him. Though Mahomes may be young and have a flashy playing style, he sticks to a classic brand when it comes to watches. However, he definitely gives it his own twist. Rolex seems to be Mahomes’ brand of choice. He’s been spotted in the more traditional GMT Batman as well as a flashier Rolex Yachtmaster with a diamond-encrusted dial, gold case, and rubber strap. To go along with his playful side he’s also rocked a Rainbow Daytona in gold – a very bold choice. He definitely wears exactly what he likes.

Cam Newton, New England Patriots

Cam Newton’s pro-football career is just getting started, and he’s already shattering numerous records. He’s one of the only players to receive a Heisman Trophy, win a National Championship, and be selected as the first overall pick in the NFL draft in the same year. In his first year with the Carolina Panthers, he shattered NFL rookie records by throwing 400 yards in his first game. This broke legend Peyton Manning’s record by 120 yards. He also ran for fourteen touchdowns in his first season, breaking Steve Grogan’s 35-year-old record. Then, in 2020, when Tom Brady left the New England Patriots, it opened up a new opportunity for Newton to join the team. Off the field, the player has a reputation for his bold sense of style. From bright colors to outrageous hats, he believes in making his own rules when it comes to his look. Accessories are a must to punctuate his fashion-forward ensembles. To contrast his unique style, Newton keeps it simple and classic when it comes to watches. He’s a Rolex man, with a Day-Date and a couple Yacht-Master models in his growing collection.

Eli Manning, New York Giants

Football runs in Eli Manning’s blood. He’s the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the younger brother of former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning. He may have lacked the consistent performance of his brother. However, Manning always held his own in the game over the course of his sixteen year career. He earned the MVP award in each of his Super Bowl wins. This makes him one of only five players to have multiple Super Bowl MVP awards. Manning has also been an ambassador for Citizen for nearly ten years. He’s participated in the brand’s “Better starts now” campaign. In addition, he helped to design multiple special edition watches with the brand over the years. You can typically find him wearing one of the Citizen Eco Drive models.

Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions

Matthew Stafford is no stranger to making a comeback. Whether overcoming a rocky season back in his college days at the University of Georgia or helping lead the Lions in his first year of pro-play, Stafford approaches the game with persistence and perseverance. In fact, he holds the NFL record for most comeback wins in a season. He’s one of four quarterbacks in NFL history to throw over 5,000 yards in a season. Stafford is also the fastest player in NFL history to reach 30,000 passing yards. In 2017, the Tampa-native made headlines after signing a five-year contract extension for an impressive $135 million. This made him the highest paid player in NFL history at the time. He continues to invest his hard-earned paychecks in Rolex. So far, he only has a couple models – a Daytona and a Sky-Dweller. However, you can be sure to see his collection grow in the years to come.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson started his career with the Seahawks with a bang. In his first year as a pro, he tied Peyton Manning’s record for most passing touchdowns by a rookie. The next year, he led his team to their first-ever Super Bowl victory. Wilson also won more games in his first four seasons than any other NFL quarterback. He has the second highest career passer rating of all time behind Aaron Rodgers. When it comes to Wilson’s style, he likes to keep it sophisticated, clean, and timeless. That’s precisely why he’s a Rolex man. Most often, you can catch him sporting one of the Daytona models or a Datejust. However, with his career only starting to flourish, it wouldn’t be surprising if his collection continued to grow over the years.

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

When Aaron Rodgers first joined the Packers in 2005, football legend Brett Favre was the team’s starting quarterback. Rodgers stepped into the starting position when Favre left the Packers in 2008. He then led the team to a Super Bowl victory that year. He’s currently the NFL’s all-time career leader in passer rating during the regular season. He’s also the only quarterback to have a career passer rating over 100 over a full regular season. When it comes to watches, Rodgers has always been a bit of a collector. Some examples from his collection include a Roger Dubuis Excalibur Chronograph, Patek Philippe Calatrava, and Rolex Deepsea. In 2021, he finally made the commitment to a brand and signed on as an official ambassador for Zenith. His model of choice is their Chronomaster Sport, which features the latest generation of the famed El Primero caliber.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Dak Prescott is a young rising star among today’s quarterbacks. When the Dallas Cowboys drafted him in 2016, they initially intended for him to serve as a backup in his rookie season. However, when their starting quarterback Tony Romo injured himself in the preseason, it was time for Prescott to step up. That season, he helped the Cowboys clinch to top seed in their conference. It earned him the title NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Though you might expect the young player to opt for a flashy, modern model, he keeps it classic. Right now, Prescott’s watch of choice is a timeless Datejust 41. As his career continues to take off, we look forward to seeing how his style and watch collection evolve.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons immediately recognized Matt Ryan’s star power back in 2008. He was the third overall pick in the first round of the draft. One of the most notable moments in the player’s and team’s history came in 2016. That year, Ryan led the Falcons to the Super Bowl for the second time in the team’s history. The New England Patriots ultimately defeated them in overtime. However, Ryan still went on to receive the honor of the NFL’s Most Valuable Player that season. Two years later, he signed a $150 million, five-year extension with the Falcons. This made him the highest paid player in NFL history at the time. Ryan invests a sizable portion of those paychecks in his watch collection. Like his devotion to the Falcons, Ryan is loyal to one watch brand: Rolex. Yet, he owns a versatile array of models. Some examples include an Everose Yacht-Master 40 on a black Oysterflex strap, yellow gold Sky-Dweller, and Kermit Submariner. Still, the most fitting model in his collection is a platinum Daytona with an ice blue dial. It echoes his nickname, “Matty Ice.”
