For watch enthusiasts, it is the most wonderful time of the year. It is finally time for Baselworld. Baselworld brings together watch brands from all over the world to Basel, Switzerland. These brands will spend all year preparing for the upcoming Baselworld. The watches that will be introduced during the two week event have been in preparation for several years, all leading up to the big reveal of the brand new watch. With so many interesting announces and releases being made during the event, it can be hard to keep up with all of the important news. Zenith Elite 6150
The new Zenith Elite 6150 is the first watch to have the new Elite base caliber. It has an ultra-thin case with a diameter of 42mm. The ultra-thin case is 9.45mm thick and is designed in the shape of a pebble, with tapered and sloping lugs. A mechanical movement and oscillating weight system can be seen through the transparent caseback. The beautifully simple watch has a classic silver dial, baton hands, and slender index markers.

Arnold & Son TBTE Tourbillon
This incredible tourbillon watch is a limited series of just 28 pieces. It has a hand finished A&S8503 calibre with True Beat Seconds complication. The timepiece has an 18kt red gold case with a diameter of 44mm and a power reserve of 72 hours. The black open dial displays the tourbillon, as well as the hours, minutes, and seconds. Arnold & Son has a reputation for it’s innovation and uniqueness. Arnold & Son’s “No. 36” watch was the first watch to ever receive the chronometer certification.

OMEGA Speedmaster White Side of the Moon
The inspiration of this watch is the bright, white moon that we see from Earth. The watch is white ceramic and has a diameter of 44.25mm. The dial is also white ceramic with 18kt white gold hands. The chronograph hand and OMEGA name on the dial are both in red, giving the white watch a pop of color. This model rounds out the ceramic Speedmaster collection: the Dark Side of the Moon, the Grey Side of the Moon, and now the White Side of the Moon. Tudor Pelagos
The new Tudor Pelagos is a tool watch made for the “modern adventurer.” This dive watch is the brand’s first watch to have a movement manufactured in-house, powered by the new calibre TUDOR MT5612, and is also the brand’s first chronometer certified movement. It is available with a matte blue dial, bezel, and rubber strap, or a matte black dial, bezel, and rubber strap. It has a power reserve of 70 hours and has a hour, minute, and central seconds function. There is a date display at 3 o’clock. Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 and 268655
The new Rolex Yacht-Master 116655 and 268655 gives a sporty twist to the current Rolex Yacht-Master. This new edition is matte black and 18kt Everose gold. It is fitted with an Oysterflex bracelet for reliability and comfort, combining the advantages of both a metal and rubber bracelet. The sizes available in 37mm or 40mm diameter. Hublot Big Bang UNICO Italia Independent
Featuring a new and Hublot exclusive material, Texalium, the Hublot Big Bang UNICO Italia Independent watch is a unique and innovative watch. This limited edition series only has 500 pieces. It’s electric blue case is sure to capture the attention and interest of others. The watch strap is made of denim fabric with grey or black studs. NOMOS Tangente Automatik
Introduced at Baselworld, the NOMOS Tangente Automatik is ultra-flat, combining elegance with functionality. It has a diameter of 35mm and a white, silver-plated dial. The watch features an in-house movement, Caliber DUW 3001, which is the first movement equipped with the NOMOS swing system. With a height of 3.2mm, this NOMOS watch is incredibly thin. Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Ref. 5524
Watch enthusiasts are always excited to see what Patek Philippe will debut at Baselworld. This year, the brand introduced the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time ref. 5524. The case is white gold and it has a diameter of 42mm. The blue varnished dial displays the dual time zone, as well as local and home day/night indications. It has a mechanical self-winding Caliber 324 S C FUS movement. Because it is designed with pilots in mind, readability has to be a priority, which explains the large numerals on the dial. Glashutte PanoMaticLunar and PanoReserve
At this year’s Baselworld, Glashutte introduces two new versions of the PanoMaticLunar and PanoReserve. The new versions are 18kt rose gold with a matte black dial and a dark blue dial with a stainless steel case, both very refined and elegant. Like the original model, this watch features hours, mintues, seconds, Panorama date, and moonphase, all organized in accordance with the Golden Ratio. Details here.
Breguet Tradition Chronographe Independant 7077
Breguet’s new chronograph watch is unique as it has two gear trains for it’s two primary functions, its chronograph and timekeeper functions, with no interaction between it’s parts. It has a manual wind movement, Caliber 580DR. The guilloche skeleton dial displays the time at the top. It also has two retrograde indicators that display the power reserve and chronograph minutes. The chronograph is operated using the two screwed-in pushers on either side of the lower lugs. The watch is available in white or rose gold and will retail for around $79,000.
Bremont Jaguar
Bremont’s new MKI and MKII watches celebrate the long-standing partnership between Bremont and Jaguar. These watches are dedicated to the Jaguar E-Type car, which was the fastest and most beautiful car when it was originally introduced in 1961. The MKI watch has a sapphire caseback that shows the movement based on the Bremont BWC/01. It also shows the automatic winding weight that resembles an E-Type steering wheel, with the Jaguar head at it’s center.
The MKII watch has a 1960s inspired dial with a classic chronograph layout and has a BE-50AE automatic movement. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, as is the “steering wheel” winding weight, similar to the one in the MKI. Learn more about the MKI and MKII here.
Blancpain Villeret Grande Date Complication
The classic and elegant Blancpain Villeret gets an update with the new Blancpain Villeret model introduced at Baselworld, featuring a grande date complication at 6 o’clock. The updated date window features two large side-by-side windows, ensuring legibility. It has a 40mm red gold double pomme case and a beautiful opaline dial. Like the rest of the Blancpain Villeret collection, this new Grande Date model is powered by the caliber 6950. More details here.
Ulysse Nardin Hannibal Minute Repeater
With a retail price of 725,000 Swiss francs, this Ulysse Nardin Hannibal Minute Repeater is a remarkable timepiece. This watch uses a hammer to strike a gong or bell to indicate the time. With a power reserve of 70 hours, the manually wound tourbillon movement is powered by the caliber UN-78. Above the tourbillon at 6 o’clock is an interesting relief made of polished granite. The subject matter is of Hannibal Barca leading his troops through the Alps. The watch is 44mm in diameter with a platinum case and is a limited edition watch, with only 30 pieces in the series.
Rolex Cellini Time 50609RBR
The new Rolex Cellini Time perfectly combines traditionalism with a modern design. This new version of Cellini comes in four varieties, all in 18kt gold. The minute track has been moved closer to the center of the dial with diamond hour markers towards the outer edge of the dial. Two versions have the double bezel with 96 diamonds on it’s inner ring and a fluted outer ring, while the other two versions have a single bezel with 62 larger diamonds.
