  • it’s unfortunate many people are not including Invicta in Any “oldest watch company” list. Though they may not be the exact same caliber of watch they were wheN they first began in 1837, they certainly were one of the best AFFORDABLE swiss made Timepieces in the wOrld until beIng re-purchased by an American conglomerate in 1991 that saved it from going under making it older than many of the popular luxury watch companies around today.

  • Blancpain has not been in operation continuously.

Within the last fifteen or so years, rights to the name were purchased and revived.

It's an old name, but the current operation does not have a long vintage.

  • Good topic! I would say it depends on how you ask the question! Blancpain should definitely also be on the list!

Oldest Swiss watchmaking brand — Blancpain, 1735
Oldest Swiss watch manufacture — Vacheron Constantin, 1755
Oldest Swiss watch factory — Philippe DuBois et fils, 1785

    • Great point, Kyle! Blancpain should definitely be added to the list. Thanks for the suggestion!
