At Crown & Caliber, we are privileged to be able to see and consign some incredible luxury watches every day. Right now, we are consigning this stunning Piaget Altiplano Ref G0A35130.
There are many “ultra-thin” watches out there, but none quite on the level of the Piaget Altiplano. The Piaget Altiplano is the world’s thinnest automatic watch in its category and has the world’s thinnest automatic movement. The ultra-thin self-winding mechanical 1208P movement is measured at 2.35mm thick, while the watch case is a little over 5.25mm thick. So achieve this thickness, many of the parts in the movement are no thicker than a human hair. Piaget watchmakers hand assemble the 191 parts that make up this record-breaking movement. Piaget is one of the few brands that produces its watch movements in-house. According to Piaget, over half of the brand’s movements are considered to be ultra-thin. Piaget is also responsible for introducing the world’s thinnest tourbillon.
In addition to its incredible movement, the Piaget Altiplano features a stunning dial. The matte silvered dial three different levels, adding dimension to the dial. The small seconds is in between 4 and 5 o’clock and is set the deepest. The center of the dial sits at the middle level, while the outside of the dial with its thin baton hour markers sits the closest to the surface. The minimalist dial give it a feel of a dress watch, as it is the perfect combination of classic and contemporary design. However, it has a diameter that is larger than a typical dress watch. The 18kt white gold case on this Piaget Altiplano has a diameter of 43mm, while most dress watches are under 40mm. This larger diameter gives the watch more versatility.
We are incredibly excited to be consigning this watch for our customer and cannot wait for another lucky watch enthusiast to come along and add it to their watch collection! Take a look at the listing here.
