Jerry Kamhi is the CEO of Haberdash, a men’s clothing store in Chicago, IL. Haberdash clothing gives a modern take on classic menswear. Crown & Caliber spoke with Kamhi, who told us about his interest in watches and about the most influential people in his life.
Tell us about why you have a watch, and what it means to you?
I have been fortunate to own two lovely watches that I thoroughly enjoy. A stainless steel Breitling Super Avenger chronograph that I purchased for myself a number of years ago. I also own a Panerai Luminor 1950 that was a gift from the woman in my life. I wear them with pride of ownership and as a fashion accessory to compliment my day’s outfit.
What do you hope your legacy will be?
My two children will be my legacy as they embody every part of my being. My daughter Reva and my son Matt possess a great sense of confidence in whatever they take on and yet do so with humility as well as a strong work ethic yet a desire to live and enjoy life to it’s fullest. Creative thinkers and doers. Explorers and adventurous. Compassionate and reflective. I couldn’t be more proud of them.
What would you say was the greatest lesson you learned from your dad? OR Who inspired you?
My dad passed away 3 years ago but I can still hear him say to me “walk softly and carry a big stick.” It’s an expression made famous by Teddy Roosevelt that stuck with him and then me for most of my lifetime. It speaks volumes about one’s character.
