[VIDEO] Rolex Submariner Watch Service Timelapse

Ever wonder what goes into servicing a luxury watch? A lot, actually.

A full service involves literally taking the watch apart piece by tiny little piece, cleaning everything, and then putting it all back together again. Our watchmakers do this sort of work day in and day out, all to make sure that our watches are functionally perfect and 100% genuine. However, it’s rare that even our staff gets to see what goes on every day in the watchmaker rooms.

Which is why we wanted to “pop the hood” on a full overhaul of a Rolex Submariner. It’s a process that can take up to six hours or more, so we decided to speed it up a little—you get to see an entire watch servicing in around two minutes. Enjoy!

As an exclusively online marketplace for pre-owned timepieces, Crown & Caliber exists to ensure that when it comes down to the final transaction, buyers and sellers can both win. For sellers, we do all the legwork of valuating, marketing, and selling—for buyers, we put trust back into the act of purchasing sight-unseen with our servicing and authentication process. By emphasizing transparency and placing value on quality, Crown & Caliber has become the preferred marketplace for watch collectors and casual enthusiasts alike.

  • Why is the second hand moving in a quartz style if thIs is a rolex sub?

    • Good catch. A minor oversight during editing, but it’s still in timelapse mode, hence the “ticking.” In real time, it sweeps like every Rolex should.
