[VIDEO] Interview with Nick McDearis, Watchuseek Moderator & OMEGA Watch Collector

We think it might be an understatement to say that Nick McDearis is passionate about OMEGA watches.

As the OMEGA forum moderator on Watchuseek and an avid collector of OMEGA timepieces, Nick’s been a fan of OMEGA since Pierce Brosnan’s days as James Bond. Since then, he’s been slowly amassing an impressive selection of OMEGAs, including several Seamasters and Speedmasters, as well as some other watches that carry sentimental value.

Some other take-aways from our talk? Nick’s philosophy on collecting is that you should “collect what you like, whatever that may be.” It doesn’t matter the ‘prominence’ of the watch or its price-point or what others think about it—if you like it, you should have it. That’s something we at Crown & Caliber can get behind. So, why does Nick collect? “I want to be able to enjoy these watches and one day look back and be able to share some stories of adventures they accompanied me on.”

One example of this is the OMEGA Speedmaster X-33 that accompanied him on a trek up Kilimanjaro in Africa (and, it’s a watch Nick has talked about on the blog before).

Or the Planet Ocean that came along with him as he hiked the Teton Crest Trail in Wyoming with his father.

We look forward to seeing what watches Nick adds to his collection in the future and hearing the stories behind them.
